Yucca plants online came about as I was moving into a new home that was purpose built to be on one level with only a few steps and it was meant to be very low maintenance in order to cater for a disabled persons needs. We wanted to have a yard that had the same criteria as the house and with a little bit of planning we had the back area paved and that of course meant no lawn for me to mow!
The double bi-fold doors opened up to a alfresco outdoor area which had soft and inviting wicker lounges for our family and friends to relax and enjoy good conversation and meals.
The only thing that was missing was a garden to complete our backyard. The garden that I had in mind needed to be very low
maintenance and something that required little to no attention and could also be left un-watered for long periods of time without dying on me like lots of other plants had done when left unattended. This would then allow me to go on a holiday at a whim without worrying about counting the days that the garden had been without water or care. Or worse still paying someone to water the garden and still have it die!
A garden needed to compliment our surroundings and added to the charm of the yard and that is when I saw while flicking through a landscaping book online and I read about all about yucca plants correct name is Yucca elephantipes. Everything about the yucca plant got a tick:
- little to no water – so drought resistant
- frost, salt tolerant
- it can grow in any climate
- looks good in mass plantings
- fast growing to cover bare spots in the garden
We were excited at the time as we had now found a solution to our problem and I knew that the plants would look great when they were planted in mass. At one stage I thought that I had not got enough plants but the beauty of the yucca is that they grow smaller plants to the side which were able to be grown and then when rooted planted out. The picture that I have above just shows how good that they look when grouped together.
Both my husband and myself travel quiet extensively through the year and whatever season we are having from hot summers to minus mornings in winter the plants look great all year round. When I come home I am not greeted with plants that are stressed or are begging for water, the yucca plant is the ideal plant for inside the home as well and do extremely well in pots. Again needed no fuss or specialized treatment.
Landscapers and Gardners are using yucca extensively in landscaping as they adapt to any climate. When the yucca tress mature you will get long stems of cream coloured blooms that will last for around two weeks. These flowers look great in a long tall vase. It is through my love of yuccas that I decided to give you loads of information and tips on growing to pruning the plants. I know I said that they are low maintenance but they do require a tiny bit of care.

Nearly one thousand types of plants with delicious leaves are known. Leaf vegetables most often come from short-lived herbaceous vegetation such as lettuce and kale. Woody plants whoever leaves can be consumed as leaf vegetables contain Adansonia, Aralia, Moringa, Morus, and Toona species.
I’m truly enjoying the design and layout of your site. It’s a very easy on the eyes which makes it much more pleasant. Did you use a free wordpress theme or hire a designer?
